The start of Fungus & Mold came about when I was researching wood carving methods to create wooden printing blocks in the UK. I came across a CNC router and was amazed by its potential; I could create my designs in illustrator and carve the straight into wood to start printing from. It felt like another one of my many 'GREAT' ideas; amazing and exciting but not achievable. We bought a small second hand CNC machine and have been carving wooden printing blocks for a few months now and it is still so exciting!
What I am really interested in is how patterns repeat and how you can play with this so easily with digital methods. I love being able to combine the digital and hand made design process when printing fabric and paper with our wooden blocks.
